How to play

Setup, how a turn works and how the game ends, summarised from the rulebook by Eko, Meepzy's rules assistant.

Here is how to play the game, based on the rules provided:

Game Setup

  • Deal one starting garden tile to each player, putting any remaining starting tiles back in the box (p. 2).
  • Randomly select one dweller card of each type, place them in the center of the table, and put the rest back in the box (p. 2). Place each kind of garden dweller piece next to its matching card (p. 2).
  • Take the bee and hummingbird pieces and place them near the cards and garden dweller pieces (p. 3).
  • Put all the garden tiles into the cloth bag and mix them up (p. 3). Depending on the player count, remove a specific number of tiles and return them to the box (p. 3).
  • Take 3 tiles from the bag to form the starting tile market in the middle of the table (p. 3).
  • The player who was the last person to water their garden (or any plants in their home) takes the first turn (p. 3).

How a Turn Works Each player's turn is played in two phases:

  1. Placing a garden tile: Choose one of the 3 available tiles in the market and place it in your gaming area, positioned so that at least one side is completely adjacent to a previously placed tile (p. 3). Once placed, the tile cannot be moved (p. 3).
  2. Possible arrival of new beings: Check if any creatures are attracted to your garden, checking them in this order: bees, hummingbirds, and then dwellers of the leaves, puddles, and mushrooms (p. 3).
    • Bees: Come to any newly created area with 3 or more continuous terrain spaces of the same color (called a pollinated area), and you also place a bee piece in each of your previously existing pollinated areas of that same color (p. 4).
    • Hummingbirds: Attracted to a tile when all of its terrain spaces belong to pollinated areas (or 3 spaces if the tile has a puddle) (p. 4). Rows and columns of 3 tiles with hummingbirds can also trigger bonus hummingbirds on the middle tile (p. 4).
    • Garden Dwellers: If you fulfill the specific conditions listed on a dweller's card using your terrain combinations, take the corresponding dweller piece and place it on the terrain space in question (p. 5).
  • End of Turn: Restore the tile market with a tile drawn from the bag, and play passes clockwise to the next player (p. 5).

How the Game Ends The game ends when the tiles in the bag run out and the market cannot be restored, meaning each player has played 12 rounds and created a garden of 13 tiles (p. 5).

(Note: The provided evidence is incomplete as it does not detail the final scoring system or the exact winning conditions, other than mentioning that players count up creature pieces at the end [p. 5].)
