Here is an overview of how to play Orloj based on the available rules:

Game Setup

  • Randomly take one of the Orloj crowning pieces and assemble it with the walk of the apostles (p. 11). Place the round marker on the leftmost space of the round track, and place the golden rooster on the general rooster track based on that marker (p. 11).
  • Unfold the main board in the center of the table, placing the Orloj clock face and the astronomical dial on the central rotation axis to form the clock (p. 13). Place the moon disc in the first position to the left of the hand inside the astronomical dial (p. 13).
  • Set up the calendar by drawing the indicated number of month and zodiac dials from a bag, placing them in the construction area or calendar spaces according to the rules (p. 13, 19).
  • Each player receives a personal set of apostle tiles, an additional actions reference card, a scoring marker placed on space 10 of the scoring track, and a combination of a hammer card and an initial resource card (p. 18).

How a Turn Works

  • The game begins with the starting player, and players take turns in a clockwise order (p. 5).
  • On each turn, you have two options: Activate the clock mechanism (provided you have at least one available worker) or Pass (p. 5).
  • When activating the clock mechanism, you configure the clock so that the astronomical dial's hand points to a section of the outer ring and a section of the Orloj clock face by following these steps:
    • Configure the astronomical dial to rotate clockwise by at least one space, up to a maximum movement capacity indicated by your blue mastery track (p. 5, 27). You may force deviations to rotate additional spaces (p. 27).
    • Configure the Orloj clock face to rotate counterclockwise (you are not required to move it), or force deviations to rotate it (p. 27).
    • Place one of your available workers on the space indicated by the hand, returning any worker already there to its owner (p. 27).
    • Choose whether to perform the actions of the outer ring section first or the Orloj clock face section first, without alternating between them (p. 27).
  • Regardless of your chosen option and at any point during your turn, you may perform any number of additional actions (p. 5, 15).

How the Game Ends

  • The game will end after completing the round in which the last calendar dial has been constructed, or after completing the round in which the fourth rooster’s call occurs (p. 8).
  • All players complete the round so that everyone has played the same number of turns, at which point you proceed to endgame scoring (p. 8).
  • The player with the highest score wins the game, and ties are determined by the personal board/rules (p. 8, 12).

(Note: The provided evidence does not fully detail all specific tie-breaking procedures beyond mentioning the player's data/play area.)
