How to play

Setup, how a turn works and how the game ends, summarised from the rulebook by Eko, Meepzy's rules assistant.

Here is how to play the game, structured step by step based on the provided rules.

Setup

To prepare the game, mix the numbered cards with the Joker to form a draw pile (Source 1, p. 3). Form two separate draw piles: one for the Mission cards and another for the Pilis (Source 1, p. 3).

For your first games, you can play without the Mission cards by dealing 5 numbered cards to each player and going straight to the betting step (Source 1, p. 3). Otherwise, draw the first Mission card to read its effect, noting that the number in its bottom-left corner indicates how many numbered cards to deal to each player (Source 1, p. 3). Deal that many cards to each player and set the remaining cards face down (Source 1, p. 3).

How a Round and Turn Work

A round proceeds through several phases:

  • Bet: Starting with the dealer, each player looks at their numbered cards and bets on how many tricks they think they will win (Source 1, p. 3; Source 3, p. 3). To ensure there is always at least one loser, the total number of bets must not equal the total number of cards dealt to each player; if necessary, the last player to bet must adjust their guess to avoid this exact match (Source 3, p. 3).
  • Win tricks: Starting with the dealer, each player plays a card from their hand to form a trick (Source 1, p. 3; Source 3, p. 3). The player who plays the highest-value card wins the trick and leads the next one, continuing until all dealt cards have been played (Source 3, p. 3).
  • Note that card colors do not matter, only numbers count (Source 3, p. 3). When a player plays the Joker, they choose any value for it between 0 and 56 (Source 3, p. 3).
  • Hand out Pilis as penalties: Once all cards are played, each player receives 1 Pili as a penalty for every trick they missed their bet by (Source 2, p. 3). If a player guessed their trick count exactly right, they receive no Pilis (Source 2, p. 3).

How the Game Ends

Shuffle all numbered cards and the Joker, draw a new Mission card, and begin a new round (Source 2, p. 3). As soon as a player reaches 6 Pilis, the game ends immediately, and the player with the fewest Pilis is declared the winner (Source 2, p. 3).
