In Synthesis, you play as a scientist exploring the mysterious planet Kepler-452b, aiming to unlock the secrets of newly discovered chemical elements. Each turn, you roll two dice to guide your choices: the bond dice determine the shape of bonds you’ll draw on your personal formula board, while the mutation dice introduce special rules for how you can modify these bonds. As you draw, you’ll use one of four colors—each representing a unique element—and build toward completing hexagonal molecules on your board.
But here’s the twist: it’s not just about finishing molecules. The points depend on the colors used within each molecule, challenging you to create the most effective pattern. Do you complete that green molecule with three green lines now, or wait to make it blue for higher points? Each turn, this small but strategic choice adds a layer of depth, creating a satisfying puzzle that keeps gameplay addictive.
With its vibrant sci-fi theme and simultaneous turns, Synthesis is perfect for groups of up to 8 players. The blend of accessible mechanics and strategic decision-making makes every roll feel exciting, whether you’re new to games or a seasoned player.
