How to play

Setup, how a turn works and how the game ends, summarised from the rulebook by Eko, Meepzy's rules assistant.

Here is an overview of how to play based on the available rules:

Setup

  • Shared Components: Place the playmat on the table, position resources, coins, and workers in a supply nearby, and set up the Triumph Track near the board (p. 24). Randomize map tokens onto indicated locations and corruption tokens onto locations with dotted square boxes, shuffle and place the combat, Factory, encounter, discovery, and Meloch decks (p. 24).
  • Scythe Player: Sit on the side of the popularity/power track (p. 10). Set up your faction and player mats with their corresponding tokens, miniatures, Power Dial, and starting components (p. 10). Place your character on your home base and 1 worker on each of the two land-adjoined territories adjacent to your home base (p. 11).
  • Expeditions Player: Sit on the opposite side (p. 10). Select and set up your mech mat, card, character, companion, and Power Dial, and take starting resources as indicated (p. 10). Place your mech on your home base (p. 5). The Expeditions player takes the first turn (p. 10).

How a Turn Works

  • Expeditions Turn: On your turn, choose ONE of the following based on your action token's position (p. 9):
    • Refresh Position: Shift the action token along the red arrow to the blank square and take all 3 actions (Move, Play, and Gather) in any order (p. 9).
    • Uncovered Actions: If the action token is next to "Refresh" or within the action box, shift it to cover Move, Play, or Gather, and take the two uncovered actions in any order (p. 9).
    • Action Box: If the action token is inside the action box, you may shift it to "Refresh" to perform a Refresh action, reclaiming placed workers and active cards (p. 9).
  • Scythe Turn: Choose 1 of the 4 sections on your player mat by moving your action token there (p. 11). In order, take either the top-row action, the bottom-row action, both, or neither, paying any required costs first (p. 11).

How the Game Ends

  • The winner is the first player to place 4 stars on the new Triumph Track, where only 1 star can be placed on each category (p. 6).
  • When a player places their 4th star on the Triumph Track, they instantly win (p. 17).
