How to play
Setup, how a turn works and how the game ends, summarised from the rulebook by Eko, Meepzy's rules assistant.
Here is a general overview of how to play based on the provided rules.
Setup The game includes components such as bird cards, bonus cards, food dice, a birdfeeder board, player mats, action cubes, egg miniatures, and food tokens (p. 27). Each player starts the game with 1 bonus card (p. 9).
How a Turn Works During your turn, you choose a habitat row on your player mat and take an action (p. 5). The core actions follow a process:
- Choose a habitat on your player mat and place an action cube on the leftmost exposed slot in that row, gaining the benefit of that slot (p. 5).
- Move your action cube from right to left, activating any birds with a brown When Activated power in that row if you wish (p. 5).
- When the action cube reaches the far left, leave it there and your turn is over (p. 5).
How the Round and Game End When all players have placed all of their action cubes, the round is over (p. 5). At the end of a round, follow these steps in order:
- Use round-end bird powers for birds on your player mat (p. 5).
- Score the end-of-round goal (p. 5).
- If Round 4 is over, use game-end powers and then count final scores (p. 5).
- Remove all action cubes from your player mat, discard and replace all cards in the bird tray, and pass the first-player token (p. 5, 12, 14).
The game ends at the conclusion of Round 4 (p. 3). After activating yellow Game End powers, players add together points from face-up bird cards, bonus cards, end-of-round goals, nectar (if applicable), 1 point for each egg on a bird, 1 point for each food token cached on a bird, and 1 point for each card tucked under a bird (p. 26). The player with the most points wins, with ties broken by the most unused food tokens (p. 26).
