How to play

Setup, how a turn works and how the game ends, summarised from the rulebook by Eko, Meepzy's rules assistant.

Here is an overview of how to play based on the provided rules.

How a Turn Works On your turn, you must choose one of two main options:

  • Place one active worker on an action and perform it (p. 19).
  • Retrieve all of your workers on the board and in your landing area (p. 19).

When performing a worker placement, you can also play seed cards for their ability or to gain a basic resource immediately before and/or after placing or retrieving workers (p. 18). If you start your turn with no active workers anywhere (no workers on the board or on your docking mat), you gain one strength-1 worker for free before taking your turn (p. 18).

If you choose the Retrieve action, you must follow these rules:

  • You must retrieve at least one worker, and you may take a retrieve action if you have workers in your active pool (p. 19).
  • Strength-4 drones hibernate immediately (p. 19).
  • All other workers collect income, each from a different farm, then increase in strength and return to your active pool (p. 19).

At the end of your turn, if you have any resource tokens that do not fit on resource spots in your hive, you must discard them (p. 18). For each resource token you discard, you may advance one spot on the Queen’s Favor track (p. 4). Then, the turn passes to the next player clockwise (p. 18).

End of the Game The game ends when all sectors in the Hibernation Comb for the player count are filled with hibernation tokens, or when a single player places their 7th hibernation token (p. 15).

When this is triggered, every player takes one additional turn, including the player whose turn it was when the end was triggered (p. 15). Afterward, the players proceed to final scoring (p. 15).
