How to play
Setup, how a turn works and how the game ends, summarised from the rulebook by Eko, Meepzy's rules assistant.
Here is how to play the game, based on the provided rules:
Setup
- Shuffle the Building card deck and deal 4 cards to each player (p. 10).
- Each player chooses an identical scientist and receives their Moon Base playmat with 30 money, 4 food, and 4 ideas on it (p. 10).
- Give each player their set of 5 Perks and 4 Action chits (p. 10).
- Shuffle the Twists, deal 2 face-up (use simpler ones with "Twist" in white for your first game), and shuffle them into the starting cards (2 Trouble and 4 Work cards) to form the initial Progress deck (p. 10).
- Keep the remaining components—such as Buildings, Developments, Events, Robots, resource tokens, and deck tokens—sorted in face-up or face-down piles as appropriate (p. 10).
How a Turn Works
- Each turn, turn over the top card from the Progress deck and place it face-up on the Progress deck discard pile (p. 5).
- All players follow the instructions on the revealed card simultaneously (p. 5).
- When a Work card comes up, each player places an Action chit onto their playmat to choose one of four actions: BUILD, FARM, MINE, RESEARCH, or RESTOCK (p. 5, 8).
- Players perform their chosen action, utilizing any color-coded Building abilities that match that action, and then move their Action chit to the center to show they are done (p. 5, 8).
- Once everyone has resolved the card, the turn is over, and the next card can be turned over (p. 5).
How the Game Ends
- The game ends if the players reach the Instruction Manual Event, meaning the moon colonies are a success (p. 3).
- The game also ends if any player's moon colony fails because they cannot cover required losses or are reduced to zero people between their playmat and Buildings (p. 3).
- The player with the most surviving people—counting both on playmats and printed on Buildings—wins the game (p. 3).
