How to play

Setup, how a turn works and how the game ends, summarised from the rulebook by Eko, Meepzy's rules assistant.

Here is a step-by-step overview of how to play Eternal Decks based on the provided rules:

Game Setup

  1. Each player selects a player color, takes their five starting Number Cards to form their Player Deck, and draws three cards into their hand (p. 23).
  2. Take two Communication Discs in your player color and place them nearby (p. 23).
  3. Set up the Game Board by placing Stars in the six marked spaces (Revival Area x3, Jewel Area, Stage Card Area, and 4th Lap Bonus Area) (p. 23).
  4. Place the MOUNTAIN Field Card in the top row, CAVE in the middle row, and CAMP in the bottom row of the Field Card Area (p. 23).

How a Turn Works

  1. On your turn, you must play at least one card to the Field (the three middle rows) or the River (the bottom row) before play moves clockwise (p. 4, 6, 7).
  2. When playing to the Field, choose a row and place your card in the leftmost empty space, following common placement rules (cards of the same color or number cannot be adjacent) and specific row rules like ascending or descending order (p. 7).
  3. Alternatively, you can play cards to the River to generate a Jewel, or give a card to a teammate (p. 4, 9).
  4. At the end of your turn, draw cards from your Player Deck until you have three cards in your hand (p. 9).

How the Game Ends Players win when the 4th Star has been gained (p. 9).

All players immediately lose the game if:

  • A player cannot take one of the available actions on their turn (p. 9).
  • A player draws the Game Over Card from the River Bonus Area (p. 9).
