How to play

Setup, how a turn works and how the game ends, summarised from the rulebook by Eko, Meepzy's rules assistant.

Here is how to play the game, based on the provided rules:

Setup

  • Choose a mix of 1, 2, or 3 rings based on your preferred challenge level, and arrange them on the table along with a nearby “None” area (p. 1).
  • Choose one player to be the Knower, while all other players act as Finders (p. 1). For a 2-player game, use the co-op variant instead (p. 1).
  • Decide how difficult the ring rules will be (Easy, Medium, or Difficult). For each ring, the Knower draws one random rule card of the matching color and difficulty, keeping these secret at all times (p. 1).
  • Shuffle the things deck and deal each player a hand of 5 cards (p. 1).
  • The Knower chooses 3 things from their hand, places them correctly following the ring rules as starting clues, and discards their remaining 2 things facedown (p. 1).

How a Turn Works

The Finders take turns clockwise (p. 1). On your turn, follow these steps:

  1. Choose a thing from your hand and place it faceup anywhere in or outside the rings (p. 1).
  2. The Knower checks the ring rules to see if your thing is placed correctly (p. 1). If it is correct, they say “correct” (p. 1). If it is incorrect, they move it to where it belongs (p. 1).
  3. If you placed correctly, you may place another thing and start over from step 1, as there is no limit to how many things you can place in a turn as long as you keep getting them right (p. 1, p. 2).
  4. If you placed incorrectly, draw 1 new thing into your hand, and your turn ends (p. 1, p. 2).

Once a thing is in the correct spot, it stays there for the rest of the game to help players figure out the rules (p. 2).

How the Game Ends

The first Finder to empty their hand by placing 5 things correctly wins (p. 1). When any Finder places the last thing in their hand correctly without drawing another, they win, and the Finders can then try to guess the secret rules to earn bragging rights (p. 2).
