The creators of the card game "SideQuest: Aquí no hay Héroes" launched a crowdfunding campaign on the Verkami platform to fund the production of the game. The campaign was successful, surpassing its initial funding goal of €4,500 and raising a total of €6,133 from 123 contributors. The campaign offered a variety of rewards to backers, including digital and physical copies of the game, art books, keychains, stickers, and physical and digital illustrations.
The campaign highlighted the game's unique theme and gameplay. Instead of traditional fantasy heroes, players take on the role of merchants in a bustling fantasy marketplace. The goal is to earn the most gold by fulfilling the requests of fantasy characters who visit the market and using magic items to sabotage their opponents. The campaign emphasized the game's simplicity, fast-paced gameplay, and its inclusive and diverse cast of characters.
To keep backers informed, the creators posted regular updates throughout the campaign, providing information on the game's development progress, production plans, and upcoming events. The creators also actively engaged with backers on social media, announcing raffles and sharing insights into the game's design and artwork. The campaign updates also highlighted the positive feedback received from playtesters and reviewers, which helped build excitement for the game's release.
The successful crowdfunding campaign enabled the creators to produce and deliver the game to backers in November 2024, marking a significant milestone for the SideQuest. Games team and paving the way for the development of future projects.
